I went to Newquay with my family for a last min surfing trip at half term.
Highlights: the weather! Was a bit foggy on the first day but then the sun came out and we had perfect conditions to surf every day.
Best things you ate and drank: We were a bit limited because my sister's Coeliac so we had a BBQ on the beach at sunset which was lovely!
Hidden gems/fun facts/top tips: We stayed at Longbeach Hotel which was so close to Fistral Beach and the guy running it was lovely - it also houses the cheapest bar in Newquay with all drinks £2-£3. Would deff recommend! - Alice

Possibly the girliest trip ever to exist! 💖✨ A belated birthday present from Ben, we visited the Miffy Museum, the Barbie Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, and De Haar Castle. We ate amazing food, relaxed, and spent far too much money on Miffy and Barbie memorabilia. It was my first holiday away from Pip, so I definitely made the most of those lie-ins! 🐰🎀🏰💕 - Molly

We went to Kefalonia with some friends and had an amazing time; super beautiful place!
Highlights were spending lazy mornings in Fiskardo bay, swimming in the coves and a day-trip to Ithaca and visiting private beaches. Lots of lovely meals in tavernas in Fiskardo and surrounding towns, and we visited a new bar and restaurant called Meliti where we had cocktails and watched the sunset.
Would highly recommend a visit! - Pete

I recently enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Murcia with my husband, where we met up with some friends for a relaxing getaway. We stayed at a beautiful golf and spa resort, which was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the sunshine. One of the highlights of the trip was happy hour every day from 4pm, definitely felt like I had found my kind of crowd there – lots of fun, sociable people who enjoyed making the most of the holiday. I am planning to book it for next year too - Emma

I went to Sardinia last month, my highlight of the trip was doing a traditional pasta making class. I learnt how to use my pasta machine that’s been sitting in my cupboard for ages and we had a gorgeous group meal after with local produce.Recommendation: The Sella & Mosca wine tasting tour: so interesting and they’re generous with the servings - Cerise

Went on a 3-week trip to China along with 11 friends through Shanghai, Fenghuang, Zhangjiajie, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'An and finishing in Beijing. Probably the most beautiful scenery I've seen in my life, and definitely the techiest cities. Very mind-bending experience, it was like we were seeing 500 years into the past and 100 into the future. And the people are incredibly warm and friendly
That being said, there were a few lessons/survival tips I learned the hard way:
-
Can't do anything without your phone, not even pay for a bottle of water (not ideal then that I left my phone in a taxi on the 2nd day of our trip, our homestay host saved me by contacting the taxi driver and convincing him to come back with it)
-
Always bring your own tissues and soap in public toilets
-
Best avoid bringing large sprays of any kind (150ml+) on the trains or you will be left without all your SPF spray bottles in 30 degree heat
-
Queues are essentially mosh pits, so waiting politely won't get you very far (literally)
-
The spicy food is SPICY, especially in Sichuan area (Chongqing & surroundings). So much so that some dishes made with literal chillies were not even marked as spicy
-
Bit of a random, niche interest - if there's only one date on a packaged food, it's most likely the production, not the expiry date. It's ok to eat - Iulia

I went to Iceland! Hired a car and toured the sights. Not one to exaggerate, but it was truly breathtaking - both wonderfully calm and dramatically imposing. Really hard to pick a scenic highlight but two of my faves were the Gullfoss waterfall and Jökulsárlón glaciar lake. Lots of other suggestions if anyone is keen to go! - Harry

Not sure what type of trip to book next? Our experts are here to help!
For the wildlife lover: Namibia
Travel Agent: Sarah

Highlights: Hiking desert dunes, kayaking with seals, and going on safari
Best food and drink: Steak inland, or fresh hake by the coast
Top tip: Stock up on snacks every time you get a chance – you won’t see civilisation for hours!
Fun fact: The Namib desert is considered the oldest desert in the world, with arid conditions for 55-80 million years

For the culture seeker: Sri Lanka
Travel Agent: Jaz

Highlights: Baby elephants galore, surfing lessons, yoga by the sea, epic hikes, amazing temples and some wild nights out (The Doctor's House is a 200-year-old hospital turned bar/club that offers haircuts and tattoos - a great idea after a few glasses of Arrack)
Best food and drink: Kottu, roti, hoppers, incredible curries; water straight out the coconut and beautiful cups of tea
Top tip: If you ask your tuk-tuk driver really nicely, he might let you drive...
Fun fact: Most people assume that Sri Lanka's national animal is an elephant - it's actually the Grizzled giant squirrel which can jump 6m (they're kinda cute, have a google)
For the sun worshipper: Crete
Travel Agent: Jess

Highlights: The place we stayed was a highlight in itself – Agios Nikolaos is a town in Eastern Crete that sits around a small volcanic lake – Voulismeni – connected to the sea by a short canal. The town has a really picturesque harbour feel and there’s loads of great places to eat and drink!
Best food and drink: Head to the tavernas lining Lake Voulismeni for fresh seafood - prawn saganaki is a staple.
Top tip: Rent a car - Crete is huge!
Fun fact: Lake Voulismeni was long believed by locals to be bottomless - it's actually around 64 metres deep, which is remarkable for such a small lake, and genuinely gave rise to the myth for centuries.

For the city explorer: Boston
Travel Agent: Becca

Highlights: Baseball at Fenway Park, walking the Freedom Trail, mooching around Harvard and MIT, visiting Salem and Cape Cod
Best food and drink: lots of pizza in Boston, Cannoli's in Little Italy, Lobster Rolls in Cape Cod
Top tip: bring comfy shoes, you’ll do a lot of walking!
Fun fact: Boston is the home to many ‘firsts’ in the US – the T is the first subway system, Boston Common is the oldest public park, Harvard is the oldest University, and it also has the oldest public library in the US

Laura Holt-Thomas works for Red Door, our local recruitment partner. She and two colleagues joined us at the Charity Ball in September, where she bid and won a prize to join racing car legend Tiff Needell on a Track Day. She sent this message & photos through this week:
I thought I would let you know that we took my Dad to Thruxton on Saturday for the Tiff Needell track experience and he was absolutely delighted! He was so very grateful! Tiff was such a lovely guy, very funny too! So, a huge thank you again for inviting us all to your Charity event and for the chance to bid on a prize which will forever hold special memories for our family 😊I’ve attached just a few photos!
